"A Million Thanks” is a non-profit organization and was created by a 15 year-old high school freshman in 2004. Shauna Fleming’s goal was to send a million thank you letters to our troops. She met that goal and continued her efforts in collaboration with regular citizens and groups like ours. According to A Million Thanks website, to date - the organization has distributed more than seven million letters to U.S. troops stationed around the world.
The organization does more than simply send letters of hope and gratitude to the troops, it “supports our injured military veterans by granting wishes that make their lives more enjoyable.” Additionally, the organization has a scholarship fund based on merit and need to children of fallen military.
Memorial Day is right around the corner... what better way to express our thanks to our military personnel this year than to say it in a letter? HRATV member, Justy Thomas, will be collecting letters, cards, and expressions of gratitude for our troops through April 30, 2015 at her office or during regularly scheduled HRATV meetings.
